It’s that time of year again. While many of us here at the shop enjoy riding outdoors all winter long we understand that some people retreat to the warmth and security of indoor training after the snow flies.
That’s why we not only sell winter trainers (to be featured soon) but trainer tires too. We’ve features these tires here before but thought it was worth pointing them out again now that we have tire sizes in stock to fit all 3 adult bike diameter standards: 26″, 27.5″, and 29″/700c. Whether you have a road bike or a cross country mountain bike your rim width will likely accommodate the correct tire (if you have any concerns you’re welcome to ask us).
These tires greatly improve your trainer experience because they’re made of compounds to be specifically comparable with the trainer flywheel. They’re less noisy, more efficient, and they last waaaaay longer than conventional tires on the trainer.
They cost between $50 and $60, which is about double what a cheap ‘regular’ tire costs, but again the trainer tire will last many times longer. Not even considering the better performance the trainer tire will likely pay for itself by the 2nd season it’s used. That is to say you pretty much have to buy a tire of some kind before you put your bike on the trainer because your existing tire will get chewed to bits in no time, so you may as well buy a trainer specific tire.
We have ’em all in stock now so feel free to buy one anytime.
